  • And the kids? As I posted above my mom is from a big family, and she has very hard feelings toward her parents (my grandparents) for stripping her of her childhood and making her into a parent at 8 years old. As well as her older sister.

  • My mom grew up in a big family, and she and her older sister had to take care of the younger kids because the mom could only do so much with 12 kids.

  • Somewhere in this big block of thread someone said that abortions rates would scew the conclusions, their assumption is that extremely religious Christian women have fewer abortions. Well in the story it says it took the abortion rates into consideration;

  • I am absolutely going to get jumped on for this. However, based on many studies there has been shown to be a correlation between education and religious belief. People with lower levels of education or poor education tend to have a disproportionately large number of fundamentalists.

  • Karen, I have one sister, and grew up on a farm in the MIdwest. The farm I grew up on was poor and so where the surounding farms. More than 6 kids and they would have all starved to death. There were many times we had no meals at all.

  • You do know that if you killed every person in prison it woudn't even touch on the number of population growth we are experienceing right? Even if you killed every one of them around the world? You get how population growth is mantained, correct? You have seen the world wide numbers, correct?

  • Karen, I grew up on a farm. My mother had two brothers and that was it. They were in a farming community where 3-4 children where the norm but no one had more than 6. As I said this is not the norm.
